Mr Michael R. Gooseman is a consultant thoracic surgeon and honorary senior lecturer based at Hull University Teaching Hospitals.
He has a busy and active thoracic surgical practice with a major professional focus on minimally invasive thoracic surgery and he is a high-volume robotic surgeon.
Mr Gooseman is driven to provide high quality, evidence based surgical care that is tailored to each individual patient.
Beyond general thoracic surgery, injuries to the chest and thoracic trauma surgery are of significant clinical interest.
He has previously been a consultant for the hospital's major trauma team. He is the chair of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons thoracic trauma working group.
Mr Gooseman is also the co-Chair of the European Association for Cardio-thoracic Surgery / European Society of Thoracic Surgeons joint task force to develop expert consensus regarding the management of chest trauma.
He has published work in peer-reviewed, impact-factored scientific journals. He has served as a guest editor and reviewer.
He is regularly invited as a speaker, lecturer, moderator and panellist at international meetings and courses.
He is a member of the Court of Examiners, Royal College of Surgeons.
